KUALA LUMPUR: Minister of Communications and Digital Fahmi Fadzil who is also the PKR Information Chief had contacted the Liberal International and requested to take down the name and logo of PKR from their website.

Fahmi said, currently there is no feedback from the party concerned and stressed that PKR has never become a member of the international association.

“I have requested the Liberal International to correct their website by removing our party name and logo as we have nothing to do with the organisation,” he said after presenting Deepavali donations to the Indian community around Lembah Pantai at Sri Pantai People’s Housing Project here Saturday.

Fahmi said, he held several positions and played many roles in PKR since 2013 but the party never discussed about its membership in Liberal International.

He added, as a normal procedure, when a body becomes a member to any organisation, they will be invited to attend annual general meetings but this never happened to PKR. Since PKR is not a member, the party never paid any membership fees to Liberal International.

“It is undeniable that Liberal International had come to Malaysia and that PKR President, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim attended their events on invitation in the past and also had received congratulatory messages from them.

“However his (Anwar) attendance was not as a member and does not imply that PKR is a member of the organisation,” he said.

Fahmi said, Anwar had explained that matter in 2020 following allegation relating PKR with Liberal International.

Earlier, Fahmi dismissed allegations made by irresponsible quarters linking the party with an Israeli organisation.

He stressed that the party remained strong in its support and solidarity to the people of Palestine. –Malaysia World News
