KUALA LUMPUR: President of the Republic of the Philippines, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will be received in a State Welcoming Ceremony at Istana Negara by His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda, Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on 26th July 2023.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry in a statement said, subsequently, President Marcos Jr. will have an audience with His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda ,Yang di-Pertuan Agong followed by a state banquet in honour of the President and his delegation.
The statement added, the President is on his inaugural State Visit to Malaysia from 25th to 27th July 2023, accompanied by the First Lady, Madam Louise Araneta Marcos.
The delegation comprises of Cabinet Secretaries, elected representatives and senior officials of the Government of the Philippines.
“During the visit, President Marcos Jr. is also scheduled to meet the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim where both leaders are expected to exchange views on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest.
“The visit underscores the longstanding friendship and close ties between the two countries as close neighbours and partners in ASEAN, including through various high level exchanges such as Prime Minister’s recent official visit to Manila in March 2023,” the statement said.
The statement also highlighted in 2022, the Philippines was Malaysia’s fifteen largest trading partner globally and the fifth largest among the ASEAN Member States, with total trade amounting to RM41.45 billion (USD9.42 billion), an increase of 20.1 percent compared to the recorded value in 2021.-Malaysia World News
