PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of National Unity will cancel the operation permit if there is any Non-Muslim Burial Management Body that is not adhering to the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the government.
Its Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique said, all the parties should be responsible to adhere to the SOP of the Movement Control Order (MCO) 3.0 that has been set by the National Security Council (MKN) to ensure the burial ceremony is able to be carried out during the MCO total lockdown from 1st June until 28th June 2021.
Halimah said, the cooperation of the Malaysians in complying with the SOP of the MCO is very much appreciated in the efforts to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Relating to the SOP, the Minister expressed her disappointment on the incident where there were processions of the dead in Penang and Kedah that had not complied with the SOP and went viral in the social media.
“The incident will bring the risk of COVID-19 to be transmitted to the community,” she said in a statement here today.
Halimah added, the SOP for Non-Muslim Burial Management has provided a strict condition for the burial ceremony as follows; the conditional activity for the preparation management of the dead body allows not more than 5 family members to attend, members of the family last respect at the living house/cemetery/crematorium allows not more than 10 family members and releasing the ash of the dead body not more than 5 persons from the family members while procession and dine-in are not permitted. -Malaysia World News
