GEORGE TOWN: Malaysia Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik (pic) said, “only through education that is filled with love and compassion,” we can counter and get rid of the spread of extremist ideologies.
He said people who are not happy in life and who lack love and compassion are likely to hate their country, family and community, and fall into the extremist terrorists` trap.
“The only way to bring extremists back to the right path is through love and compassion.
“People who are lacking of love and happiness will be more easily influenced by extremism and radicalism.
“They do not love themselves and feel that it’s okay to die, as long as their ideologies were spread far and wide,” Dr Maszlee was quoted as saying by The Star at the Festival Guru Malaysia 2019 appreciation ceremony at Setia SPICE Convention Centre in Bayan Lepas on Wednesday (May 15).
The terrorist ideology and extremism has to be countered with an education that is filled of love, happiness and respect towards self, the country and community, he added.
