KUALA LUMPUR FEB.23: The district border is termed as the district border administration led by the District Officer and not the district border police headed by the Royal Police Malaysia (RPM).
Senior and Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the confusion arises when members of the public have been detained and compounded at road blocks located in the same district as movement is permitted within the same district during the Movement Control Order (MCO).
“For the public information, district border is the district border administration and not the district border police.
“Those who had been compounded in such confused cases, they could make an appeal to the Ministry of Health (MoH) following the district where the compound had been issued to them,” said Ismail in a press conference held here today.
Ismail said that following stories that had gone viral in the social media about people moving within the same district had been compounded at road blocks.
In another development, Ismail said that the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) imposed in two localities namely Kampung Teluk, Setiawan Perak and Felda Triang 3, Bera, Pahang will be lifted tomorrow (24th Feb.).
He added, the MoH had carried out 131 screening tests and out of which 26 had been detected with positive COVID-19 and there was a decreasing trend and no new cases detected after 17th Feb.2021in Kampung Teluk Setiawan.
The government agreed to end the EMCO on 24th Feb.2021 after a risk analysis was done by MoH together with several agencies in the MCO Technical Committee.
Meanwhile the EMCO in Felda Triang 3, Bera, that was scheduled to end on 3rd March 2021 had been lifted earlier on 24th Feb.2021as a result of a decreasing trend besides COVID-19 cases were under control and there was no screening test sample waiting for the result.
The government had decided to end EMCO earlier in this locality with the advice of MoH and the risk analysis carried out by several agencies in the MCO Technical Committee.
Regarding non-compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) of MCO, Ismail said, 321 individuals had been detained and out of which 286 had been compounded while 29 individuals remanded and six were bailed.
Among the non-compliance activities committed were not wearing mask (75), fail to provide tools to record self and customer’s particulars (65), inter-state/district travel without permission (55), no physical distancing (49), activities in entertainment centres (30) and others (47)- Malaysia World New
