Muhyiddin Yassin has today ended the prolonged Malaysian political drama – the political crisis if you like to say- by having set up a new government comprises Bersatu, UMNO, PAS, MCA, MIC and GPS that ensures back peace, stability and prosperity to the country.
Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, and Dr. Mohd. Radzi Md. Jidin have been named as senior ministers in the new cabinet.
Pakatan Harapan, which took to power after defeating Barisan Nasional (BN) in May 9 general election, had been seen for the last few months by many Malaysians, especially the Malays, as a failed, incompetent government.
Analyst says the “country is now at peace as it returned back to its people”.
PH coalition, especially DAP was accused of creating instability in the country as the native citizens, the Malays and Bumiputra felt they were neglected or their privileges and rights were stepped on.
The PAS leaders said their campaign was to topple DAP because this later was against the Malays and Muslims who make the majority in Malaysia.
The infighting among PH leaders, especially between Anwar Ibrahim, his supporters and Azmin Ali and his supporters, and the cold war between Anwar and Dr Mahathir were also another threat to the stability and harmony of the nation.
Most of the supporters of Anwar were Indian Malaysians and Chinese Malaysians and they were so eager and impatient to see him become Prime Minister. They had even pressured Dr Mahathir to step down as soon as possible and hand power to Anwar, the champion of reformasi and equality between all Malaysians regardless race, religion or beliefs.
On 29th Feb 2020, Dr Mahathir was indirectly pressured to set a date for power transition as he was expected to step down on May 2020 as promised two years ago, which prompted fear and insecurity among his Malay party Bersatu, ending up with this later defected from PH and Dr Mahathir resigned as Prime Minister. Subsequently, PH government collapsed and dissolved.
Malaysia`s King, knowing the underneath struggle and tension between Anwar and Dr Mahathir, appointed Muhyddin Yassin as the new Prime Minister of Malaysia to end the political upheaval.
Azmin Ali and his faction defected from PH too and joined Bersatu. With the support of Bersatu, UMNO and PAS Muhyiddin got the majority to be appointed as the 8th prime minister of Malaysia.
While PKR president, his wife Wan Azizah who was Dr. Mahathir`s Deputy Prime Minister, many ministers from PH all ousted and lost their ministerial posts.
This political power struggle was affecting on the national economy and other pressing matters.
Now all the eyes on this new government that claimed today to be administred by well experienced, senior ministers. Will they start work soon and prove their competence and smartness, otherwise they will suffer too from peoples trust deficit and boycott.
Today Muhyiddin has showed that he understands the public concern by not appointing those UMNO leaders who are facing criminal charges in court for alleged bribery, corruption and abuse of power.
Many Malaysians were thinking that the alleged corrupt leaders from UMNO would be appointed as ministers in the new cabinet,
Muhyddin in his first address to the nation pledged to set up a government that is free from corruption or corrupted people. “Only clean MPs would be appointed in his cabinet,” he said.
