PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced today that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has already given his formal consent to dissolve Parliament and pave the way for the 15th General Election (GE15) to be held within 60 days from Monday, October 10.
“I had an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong yesterday afternoon.
“He has consented to dissolving Parliament on Monday in accordance to Article 40 (2)(b) and Article 55(2) of the Federal Constitution,” he said in a special address that was broadcasted live on local television stations and social media sites on Monday.
Ismail also confirmed that the parliament will be dissolved today.
“With the dissolution of the Parliament on 10th Oct.2022, I propose the Heads of State Government except Sabah, Sarawak, Melaka and Johor to take necessary steps to dissolve the State Assembly (DUN) on the same date as the General Election, Parliamentary level even though few states had decided not to dissolve the DUN.
“It should be implemented concurrently to ensure the people would not be burdened besides ensuring the smoothness of the democracy process and cost saving.
“Meanwhile the date of the nomination of candidates and the date of voting and other related matters will depend on the decision of the Election Commission,” Ismail said.-Malaysia World News.
