Pan Borneo Sabah Highway worth RM877 million, to benefit Malaysian Family – PM Ismail

KOTA KINABALU NOV.6: The Federal Government is consistently giving priority to the development of Sabah and Sarawak to ensure both states are developing in line with the aspirations of the Malaysian Family.

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the allocation for development for the two states is 20 per cent from the expenditure allocation for development in Budget 2022 that has been distributed to the states in Malaysia.

Ismail said, the allocation is aimed at implementing the building of infrastructures including water, electricity, roads, education and health facilities to narrow the development gap between the two states and the Peninsular.

“The Pan Borneo Sabah Highway with the distance of 706 kilometres is divided into 35 work packages with package 28, 29 and 30 crossing the district of Kinabatangan, Sandakan, Beluran and Telupid covering 58 kilometres and the these packages have costs RM877 million.

“This allocation is an addition to 11 work packages that have started the building works in early 2016. The building scope of the three work packages includes the upgrading of the existing Federal Road from two roads to four roads starting from Sandakan Mile 32 to Sungai Baoto.

“This also includes the building of one multi-level junction at Sapi Nangoh and three bridges in Sungai Monyet, Sungai Munad and Sungai Manduring. The building works have started this month and is scheduled to complete fully in three years time until October 2024,” Ismail said in his speech here today.

The Prime Minister was speaking at Dataran Tamu Pekan here in conjunction with the launching of the Pan Borneo Sabah East Zone Kinabatangan, Sandakan, Beluran and Telupid.

Ismail reiterated, the implementation of this project is a prove of the government’s commitment to build the road infrastructure network that is well planned, systematic and efficient for the Malaysian Family. This will ensure for a better socio-economic development that will benefit the people in the state in line with the road map of the strategic 12th Malaysia Plan that is “Malaysian Family” – Prosperous, Inclusive and Sustainable. –Malaysia World News
