HITAM: KEDAH: Thirty-eight (38) illegal immigrants including 25 females and 13 males from Myanmar were detained at 5.45 am by the Attack and Detain Team (SERKAP) that was placed in the fenced area at the border of Malaysia-Thailand, Monday.
The Malaysian Infantry Second Division Headquarters (HQ) said, SERKAP had traced the Myanmar citizens aged between 15 till 40 walking suspiciously at the border and as such they had followed and detained them.
“The Myanmar citizens had tried to enter Malaysia via the Malaysia-Thailand border using illegal route. After checking, all of them did not possess any valid travel documents.
“The incident had happened in the rubber plantation sector in Op Benteng under the Responsibility of the Sixth Brigade Infantry Malaysia.
“Among the things seized from them include 23 mobile phones and Thailand currencies. The seized properties were estimated around RM10, 498.82,” the Malaysian Second Division HQ said in a statement.
The statement added, all the illegal immigrants were handed to the Bukit Kayu Hitam Police Station.
“The operating team will always guard the national borders and will not compromise with any cross-border criminal activities,” said the statement. –Malaysia World News
