Number of daily Covid-19 deaths continue to reduce in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Number of daily Covid-19 related deaths continue to reduce in Malaysia, with 109 fatalities recorded nationwide yesterday (Saturday, 2 Oct).

The number started to drop since Friday last week, according to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow portal.

Penang recorded the highest daily fatality at 18, followed by Sabah and Selangor with 13 each and 11 in Johor. Perak recorded 10 deaths, Sarawak and Terengganu had nine each, Kedah (eight), Kelantan (five), Pahang and Kuala Lumpur had four each, Perlis (three) and Melaka and Negri Sembilan recorded one death each, while no deaths recorded in Labuan and Putrajaya.

Yesterday, 10,915 new cases were recorded, showing a significant reduction of infections and hospitalization.

 Currently the ICU utilisation rate is at 65.8 per cent, hospital bed utilisation rate at 66.9 per cent and the ventilator utilisation rate is at 44.7 per cent, according to NST.

A total of 87.2 per cent of the adult population have been fully vaccinated so far.
