KUALA LUMPUR: The Attorney- General Chambers stressed that the decision to charge any person is based on information and facts obtained in an investigation and not insistence from any party or other factors.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun said that there is no form of politically motivated selective prosecution towards any individual who broke the law.

Idrus denied the allegation which followed a recent court charge where certain quarters had accused the case charged in the court was politically motivated, selective prosecution and persecution.

“Decision is made based on the statements recorded in an investigation paper and it is done impartially based on the principle of integrity to ensure the victim, witness, accused and the public receives the necessary justice in line with the powers of the Attorney-General as provided under Article 145 (3) Federal Constitution.

“If there is any statement and solid evidence that any individual has committed an offence under any provision of law, then the individual will be prosecuted by the Attorney-General’s Chambers based on the provision of law regardless of the accused person’s status and background,” he said in a statement. –Malaysia World News
