No Malaysian hospital is in the top 250 of the world’s best health establishments, according to the news magazine Newsweek`s ranking list that it has released for the third year in a row in collaboration with the Statista institute.

The American magazine Newsweek survey shows not even one single Malaysian hospital on its ranking list of the 250 best hospitals in the world for 2022.

The rankings recognize 2,200 hospitals across 27 countries as the World’s Best Hospitals in 2022: USA, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Spain, Brazil, Canada, India, Australia, Mexico, The Netherlands, Austria, Thailand, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Israel, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Colombia.

These rankings highlight medical institutions that have weathered the immense challenges posed by the global pandemic by continuing to deliver the highest-quality patient care, conducting critical research, and attracting top-tier talent.

The top 10 World’s Best Hospitals are: Mayo Clinic – Rochester (US), Cleveland Clinic (US), Massachusetts General Hospital (US), Toronto General – University Health Network (Canada), Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Germany), The Johns Hopkins Hospital (US), AP-HP – Hôpital Universitaire Pitié Salpêtrière (France), Karolinska University Hospital (Sweden), UCLA Health – Ronald Reagan Medical Center (US), Sheba Medical Center (Israel).

The lists are based on three data sources: recommendations from over 80,0000 medical experts (doctors, hospitals managers, health care professionals) in 27 countries; publicly available data from existing patient surveys; and medical key performance indicators (KPIs) on hospitals, i.e. data on quality of treatment and hygiene measures.

The countries were selected based on multiple comparability factors, such as standard of living/life expectancy, population size, number of hospitals and data availability.
