KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the High Commission of Malaysia in New Delhi, India confirmed that no Malaysian have been reported injured or directly affected by the earthquake that struck Afghanistan’s Province of Herat on 7th October 2023.
The Ministry in a statement said, the Government of Malaysia extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the Government and people of Afghanistan following the devastating earthquake which resulted in the heavy loss of lives with thousands of people injured and huge destruction to properties and public infrastructures.
“The people of Malaysia are in solidarity with the people of Afghanistan during this difficult period. Our profound thoughts and prayers are with them, particularly with those affected by the disaster,” the statement said.
The statement added, currently consular matters involving Malaysian in Afghanistan is handled by the High Commission of Malaysia in New Delhi.
