New clusters mostly formed at work places – Dr. Noor Hisham

PUTRAJAYA DEC.21: Malaysia had recorded its third highest daily new COVID-19 infections since the pandemic began with 2,018 cases making the cumulative total to 95,327 with eight new clusters and 16,496 active cases were under treatment.

Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham said, 1,084 patients had been discharged and the cumulative total was at 78,393 (82.2%).

Meanwhile 109 positive COVID-19 cases had been admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) with 55 cases needed respiratory aids.

“One death was reported and it made the cumulative total standing at 438 cases (0.46%). The death involved was a male, non-citizen aged 50 and died in Tuaran Hospital, Sabah,”

Dr. Noor Hisham said in a statement here today.
Dr. Noor Hisham said, most of the new clusters were formed at the work places and it involved the Pekapuri cluster in the district of Gombak in Selangor where targeted screen tests had been carried out on 769 individuals and out of which 202 had been detected with positive COVID-19 until 21st Dec.2020.

The Batu Besar cluster he said was affecting Klang district in Selangor involving 546 individuals were screened tested and out of which 59 had been infected with the corona virus until 21st Dec.2020.

According to Dr. Noor Hisham, the Tower cluster at the Gombak district, Hulu Langat and Sepang in Selangor , Titiwangsa district and Cheras in Kuala Lumpur and also the district of Temerloh in Pahang had infected 20 individuals with positive COVID-19 from 1,154 that had been screened tested until 21st Dec.2020.

The Pelangi Construction Site cluster was affecting the district of Kepong in Kuala Lumpur where 23 had been infected with positive COVID-19 from 142 individuals who went for screen tests until 21st Dec.2020.

On the other hand, Wawasan cluster occurred in Petaling district in Selangor, Lembah Pantai district in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Six were infected with the corona virus from 44 individuals that had been screened tested until 21st Dec.2020.

The Delima cluster affects the district of Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur and Gombak district and Hulu Langat in Selangor. Until 21st. Dec.2020, 51 individuals had been screened tested out of which nine cases had been detected with positive COVID-19.

Meanwhile the Bandar cluster was formed in Labuan, Sabah where 25 had been infected with positive COVID-19 after 84 individuals had been screened tested until 21st Dec. 2020.

However in the May Indah cluster, Dr. Noor Hisham said, until 21st Dec.2020, 27 individuals had been detected with positive COVID-19 from 132 who had been screened tested in the district of north- east and south-west, North Seberang Perai, Central Seberang Perai and South Seberang Prai in Penang.

The states contributing new COVID-19 cases today are Selangor that is still leading the list with 1,204 cases, Sabah (247), Kuala Lumpur (127), Negeri Sembilan (58), Johor (278), Penang (18), Kedah (3), Perak (21), Labuan (29), Pahang (12), Melaka (9), Kelantan (6), Terengganu (1) and Putrajaya (5). –Malaysia World News
