Negeri Sembilan Fashion Week is proud to announce the launch of its Zero Textile Waste Campaign, a pioneering initiative aimed at raising awareness and promoting cooperation to tackle textile waste disposal in Negeri Sembilan.

The event, scheduled to take place from 11 March 2024 till 8 June 2024, marks the first circular fashion week in Malaysia, with a national and international tourism promotion component.

The Zero Textile Waste Campaign is a key feature of Negeri Sembilan Fashion Week, which aims to inspire the fashion industry, enthusiasts, and the public to adopt sustainable practices. Through a series of activities including Picnic in Style, Educational Talks, the Bunga Lado Batik Design Competition, and a Fashion Show featuring recycled materials, the event seeks to showcase innovative solutions to textile waste while celebrating Malaysia’s rich textile heritage.

“We are excited to launch the Zero Textile Waste Campaign as part of Negeri Sembilan Fashion Week,” said State tourism committee chairman Nicole Tan Lee Koon. “This campaign aligns with our commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible tourism. We believe that by promoting sustainable practices, we can not only reduce textile waste but also enhance our reputation as a leading destination for eco-conscious travelers.”

During the upcoming Ramadan months, the Zero Textile Waste Campaign will collaborate with Jabatan Hal Ehwal Agama Islam Negeri Sembilan, Bahagian Pengurusan Masjid & Surau to identify several mosques and surau for the collection of textile waste. This smart partnership is expected to provide added value during this special Ramadan period.

In addition, a special cultural exchange project will be launched to promote traditional clothing from Negeri Sembilan, aimed at raising awareness of local fabrics while appreciating the beauty, uniqueness, and history of its heritage. Foreign embassies and selected public universities will participate in this project, in collaboration with Dato Menti Laksamana Alias bin Zakaria, Chairman of the Persatuan Penggiat Busana Tradisional Negeri Sembilan.

The Zero Textile Waste Campaign is powered by the Negeri Sembilan Tourism Board and jointly organized by Mainstream Properties Sdn. Bhd. and Spectrum Ventures (M) Sdn. Bhd., in collaboration with their strategic partner, Life Line Clothing Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
