Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak has urged his supporters to turn up at the rally against the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Icerd) which is scheduled to take place on Saturday Dec 8 along Jalan Raja in Kuala Lumpur.
“The peaceful gathering on Dec 8 will be organised by the National Sovereignty Secretariat and should be given our full support.
“It is our right to assemble and show our unity and resolve (on our stand that) the sovereignty of the constitution should not be challenged,” he said in a Facebook post this morning.
The rally is organised by Umno and PAS in protest against the ratification of Icerd which the organizers claim it would jeopardise the position of the Malays, bumiputera, Islam and the Malay rulers.
The rally is taking place even though Putrajaya has already announced that it would not ratify any Icerd or change any constitution.
