KUALA LUMPUR 2 FEB: Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak alleged the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government has robbed RM19.2 billion from Petronas if it continues with the plan to take that amount to pay back GST claims.
Najib said, many claims are still in the process of investigation and review and as such it should not be paid as yet.
“The Finance Minister, Lim Guan Eng recently said that the government will take RM82 billion from Petronas and from it RM19.2 billion will be the payment for GST claims,” Najib said in a statement via his Facebook today.
He alleged that if Guan Eng continues with the plan then the money is to be paid to the business people who have tried to cheat the government.
Relating to that Najib said, last month (January) a businessman from Ipoh was charged for trying to cheat GST claims amounting to RM22 million from the government.
The former Finance Minister Najib said, many similar cases where business groups/people have tried to make false GST claims worth millions of Ringgit from the government.
Referring to the Petronas money, Najib said, Lim Guan Eng on 7th August 2018 had mentioned in Dewan Rakyat that the BN government had “robbed” GST claims amounting RM19.2billion.
The next day he said, the former UMNO Youth Chief, Khairuddin Jamaluddin (KJ) had lodged a police report.
“Until today it has been six months but the PH government did not come out with any results from the police investigation on the said “robbed money” and the records are with them,” Najib reiterated.
However Najib claims that the Auditor General report that was released on early December 2018 had mentioned that a big portion of the GST claims are still under investigation and review.
The GST claims payment for April, Najib said will be paid in May and for May will be paid in June 2019.
The Audit report also reveals that a big portion of the GST claims might not be valid or appear to have the intention to cheat the Customs amounting to RM3.90 billion for those without output tax while RM3.52 billion are still under investigation.
“It is surprising that the Audit report also shows that if the GST input money is late for its payment then it is the fault of the PH government,” Najib said.-Malaysia World News
