KUALA LUMPUR: Over 500 supporters of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak gathered last night (Saturday, Oct. 28) here at the Dewan Besar, Kelab Sultan Sulaiman, Kampung Baru, holding banners read “Demi Najib” and “We’ ll Stand By You”, and signing a petition that calls for the former prime minister’s justice and freedom.
The event, which was titled “Demi Najib, We Stand by You”, was attended by Najib’s children, Datuk Mohd, Nizar, Datuk Mohd. Nazifuddin, and Nooryana Najwa, as well as many supporters and UMNO members.
The event started with a doa for Najib’s release from prison by an imam from Saudi Arabia, followed by a video presentation of all the good things Najib had done for the country, and ended with a presentation about Najib’s trial conducted by his three children.
The supporters show their concern about the ongoing court proceedings against him.
Over 500 petition forms were singed at the event in support for Najib and his Children. The petition form will be sent to many other supporters these days for signing. The petition is said to be sent to Agong and the Prime Minister.
One of the organisers of the gathering, Nordin Fazal Elahi from Sabah UMNO, said supporters from Sabah, Pahang, Melaka, Kuala Lumpur, and Johor came all the way to know the latest development of Najib’s trial from three of his children.
“The people said that Najib has not been given the opportunity to have a fair trial, and as such, they want to know the real situation from the children. The family and children know the best about their father’s position and his wishes,” Nordin told MWN when asked why such a gathering was held.
Nordin added that the people are longing for Najib, and they hope his children will represent him in explaining the court proceedings, in which they claimed that Najib has not been given the opportunity to have a fair trial.
“We do not want to interfere with the justice system in Malaysia. However, the people have the right to know why it is said that Najib has not been given the opportunity to have a fair trial,” he said.
Commenting on the trial that has been going on for more than a year, Nordin said he expects the new Unity Government, newly appointed Attorney General (AG), and a new Agong for the country next year will give Najib at least a fair trial.
Nordin Fazal added that this gathering tonight is a continuous effort by Malaysian citizens to free Najib.
“We will continue our protest and call for Najib’s justice until he is freed; the country needs him,” he said. MalaysiWorld News
