PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has revealed today nine audio recordings of high-ranking officials, including former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, and several other former government top officials.
The nine audio clips are allegedly conversations about 1MDB scandal between the former premier and other officials including his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, MACC ex-chief Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad, and Crown Prince of UAE Sheikh Mohammed Zayed Al-Nahyan.
“I don’t like this. Darling, you are the prime minister, you should take in charge, not anybody else, OK?” Rosmah is heard saying in one of nine audio clips.
MACC’s chief, Latheefa Koya, played the audio clips in a press conference that was attended by many journalists.
“There are various serious issues that arise (in the recordings), including abuse of power, criminal conspiracy, obstruction of justice, compromising national security, and the fabrication of false evidence through foreign aid,“ she said.
The conversations in the audio clip, which said to had been taken in 2016, seem to be about 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal.
“This is shocking as there are attempts at cover-ups and subversion of justice,” Latheefa Koya told the media.
The people in the audio recording that MACC identified were former MACC chief Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad, Najib’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, former Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, and Najib’s former principal private secretary Tan Sri Shukry Mohd Salleh.
