KUALA LUMPUR: Incarcerated Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has applied to the court to be allowed to attend parliamentary sessions and participate in Dewan Rakyat proceedings.
He applied for a judicial review after the Prison Department did not want to grant him permission to attend parliamentary sessions.
His lawyers Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Shafee confirmed that the judicial review was filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court earlier this afternoon.
“Yes, we have just filed an application for judicial review sometime around 1pm today,” he said on Wednesday (Oct 5).
According to the application sighted by the Edge, Najib who is still the Pekan Member of Parliament (MP) is seeking to quash the Prison Department’s decision, and also a declaration that he is entitled to attend Parliament on the scheduled dates.
