SYDNEY: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak this morning meets with Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull at the Asean-Australia Summit held here this week.
In the half-hour session at the Sydney International Convention Centre (ICC), both leaders discussed their governments’ bilateral trade and investment, cooperation in defence, education, as well Putrajaya and Canberra’s regional cooperation in combatting terrorism, New Straits Times Press reported.
“Great to see Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull this morning!
“Australia remains a close friend and ally to Malaysia and we will continue to work closely together,” Najib wrote this morning on his Facebook page.
Australia is hosting leaders from the 10-country Association of Southeast Asian Nations during the three-day special summit.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman is also meeting with his counterpart, Julie Bishop.
The prime minister is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the closing segment of the Counter-Terrorism Conference later today, according to New Straits Times Press report.
The report said, Najib is the only Asean leader who will be addressing the conference, which runs alongside the Australia-Asean Special Summit.
Turnbull will also deliver a keynote address at the closing of the conference.
