Muslims perform Tarawih prayer in Times Square, New York, US for the first time in history


NEW YORK — Hundreds of Muslims gathered and prayed Tarawih in Times Square, New York, United States (US) on Saturday to mark the beginning of Ramadan. 

For the first time in history Muslims have performed Tarawih prayer in this iconic location in the United States (US).

The event organizer told CBS New York that Muslims living in USA wanted to perform Ramadan prayer in this iconic place in the heart of New York city to show to others that Islam is a peaceful religion.

” There is a misconception about Islam (in the US).

” We want to explain our religion to all who don`t know what is it about…Islam is a religion of peace,” said the organizers.
