KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin claimed that several party leaders including “Pejuang” Chairman Dr Mahathir have met him and expressed their views to form a political cooperation to avoid several corner fights in the coming 15th General Election (GE).
Muhyiddin said, several party leaders who had met him after the Johor State Election felt that it was better for parties apart from Barisan Nasional (BN) to form a kind of cooperation to avoid political clashes in the General Election.
“They realised majority of the people did not support BN that has been implicated with kleptocracy image. Many corner fights between the contesting parties have caused the anti-BN votes to be divided.
“This had resulted the BN to win in the Melaka and Johor State Elections even though majority of the people rejected them,” Muhyiddin said in a statement here today.
The Former Eight Prime Minister added, all the party leaders have agreed to avoid many corner fights and political clashes in the 15th GE in order to stop BN from returning into power. That opinion has also been expressed by many political analysts.
“I have taken the initiative to meet top party leaders in the government and opposition to start the cooperative relations in the 15th GE. This is an early step to get the opinions of political party leaders and no final decision has been made on this matter.
“My meeting with Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad was arranged by a senior party leader of Pejuang who has met me and this was part of the initiatives,” Muhyiddin reiterated. –Malaysia World News
