KUALA LUMPUR SEPT.4: The former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Recovery Council with the status of a minister.
Cabinet Minister’s Secretary/Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Mohd. Zuki Ali said, the appointment has been decided in the Cabinet Minister Meeting on 1st September 2021.
Mohd. Zuki said, the appointment has been presented to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“The appointment was based on the government’s confidence on the capability of the former eight Prime Minister, Muhyiddin Yassin to lead the national recovery strategy in order to reach the best economic impact and to recover the people’s well being that had been affected badly by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The government wishes to congratulate Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for his appointment,” Mohd. Zuki said in a statement here today.
Meanwhile, Muhyiddin expressed his gratitude on his appointment and pledges to undertake the work voluntarily without any remuneration.
“The trust given to me by the government is an honour and I will continue all the efforts and plans that have been initiated before to recover the country from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Members of the National Recovery Council and I will play our roles to assist the Prime Minister and the government under his leadership to bring Malaysia to the recovery phases like what have been framed in the National Recovery Plan (NRP),” Muhyiddin said in his Facebook post here today.
Muhyiddin said, this includes supporting the implementation of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, to simplify the opening process of the economic sectors, social, education, religion and to instil awareness among the people on complying with the new norms in line with the COVID-19 management shift to endemic phase. –Malaysia World News
