KUALA LUMPUR MAY 17: Jeneri State Assemblyman, Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, 46 today became the 14th Kedah Menteri Besar after he sworn in and took his oath before Sultan of Kedah, Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah.

The ceremony was held at about 3.05pm at the Sultan of Kedah’s office in Wisma Darul Aman here today.

The Kedah State Secretary Datuk Ammar Shaikh Mahmood Naim in his announcement earlier said that Sultan Sallehuddin had consented to the appointment of Muhammad Sanusi as the new Menteri Besar of Kedah.

The appointment was made according to the provisions of Article 35 and 37(2) (a) of the State Constitution of Kedah after Muhammad Sanusi, the Kedah PAS Deputy Commissioner received the majority support from the state assemblymen.

Muhamad Sanusi became the Jeneri State Assemblyman after he defeated Mahadzir Abdul Hamid (BN-UMNO) and Mohd. Nazri Abu Hassan (PH-PPBM) with a 2,455 majority votes in the 14th General Election.

However the 13th Menteri Besar of Kedah, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Dr.Mahathir announced his resignation after he lost the majority support in the State Assembly.

Earlier it was rumoured that Mukhriz might lose his seat as the Menteri Besar of Kedah if he fails to get the majority support from Kedah State Assemblymen following the latest political development in Perikatan Nasional .

Meanwhile the Secretary General of Barisan Nasional (BN) Tan Sri Annuar Musa is anticipating that one or two more states will follow Kedah’s move.

He said, Perikatan Nasional (PN) is continuously trying to have more states to be headed by their parties’ representatives.

According to Annuar, currently the Menteri Besar of Johor, Perak and Chief Minister of Melaka are representatives of Perikatan Nasional.

“Now is the time to work and “politicking” is over,” he said.- Malaysia World News
