KUALA LUMPUR – Ten new countries, in addition to 26 others, are joining Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA ’17) on 21-25 March.
The new participating countries are Austria, Brazil, Brunei, Estonia, Hong Kong, Philippines, Poland, Thailand, The Netherlands, and Ukraine.
The involvement of 36 countries in this 14th edition marked the significance of LIMA which has started since 1991. This strategic agenda has proven Malaysia’s serious commitment in the development of maritime, aerospace, defence and security industries locally and internationally.
LIMA`17 provides an opportunity for participants to showcase their latest technology in maritime and aerospace industries in a single, impactful event.
It is an ideal platform not just to showcase the latest technologies and services, but also to reach out and engage with the targeted audience and buyers.
LIMA’17 is divided into two segments – the aerospace exhibition will be held at Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre, and maritime exhibition at the Resorts World Langkawi.
The LIMA’17 introduces six new programmes that are designed to attract more visitors.
The programmes include the Czech Defence Technology Presentation, Maritime Segment Gracing Ceremony; RAKAM 2.0 Official launching, TN50, UAV/AUV demonstration, Talk on Overview and Current Issues on STA 2010.
More than 140,000 visitors including local and foreign tourists are expected to visit LIMA this year.
Among the highlights of the event are Crowd pulling aircraft demonstration; the Black Eagles from South Korea 9XKAI T-50B -Golden Eagle; Indonesia’s Jupiter 8xKT-1B; India`s Sarang 5X HAL Dhruv Hell, and Russian Knights 6 X SU-27.
Meanwhile, Malaysia will showcase its SU-30 MKM; France (Rafale); Thailand (Gripen 39C/D) and United States of America (2 X B-1B (Fly Past).
About 42 ships from Malaysia and other countries including Singapore, Thailand, Bangladesh, Australia, Pakistan India, Italy, Japan, Sri Lanka, USA, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines are participating in the exhibition. The Royal Malaysian Navy and the Malaysian government agencies are also taking part in this segment.
The Static Maritime Exhibition and War Ships at the Resorts World are open to the public from 22 March onwards.
Seminars and conferences on related industries are also held throughout the event.
The exhibition will be occupying 119,209 sqm this time, compared to 104,209 sqm in LIMA`15, and only 10,424.2 sqm in 2013.
