Mohamad Sabu: Malaysia-Italy enhances cooperation in defence and research development

KUALA LUMPUR: Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu reaffirmed the commitments of Malaysia and Italy to enhance the defence cooperation between the two countries besides exploring areas of mutual interest in research and development in defence.

Mohamad Sabu met the Defence Minister of Italy, Dr. Elisabetta Trenta in Paris recently at the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cyber Security and ICT cooperation between Leonardo MW Ltd. and Sapura Secure Technologies.

The minister was leading Malaysian delegates from 16 –June 21 to the 53rd International Paris Air Show organised by the SIAE, a subsidiary of GIFAS, the French Aerospace Industries Association.

The presence of Mohamad Sabu at the air show has highlighted the significant existing relations between the two countries particularly in aerospace and aviation sector. The official visit also paved the way for more cooperation opportunities for both countries in defence sector.

The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) in its statement said, Mohamad held various meetings with officials and representatives from French defence sector to discuss existing cooperation and explore potential collaboration between the two countries.

“Mohamad also spent some time at the Malaysia External Trade Development Cooperation (MATRADE) pavilion which has constantly supports Malaysian companies in various sectors to participate in the global arena,” said the statement.

The statement added, the Air Show has successfully brought together global aerospace industry players to converge under one roof in showcasing their innovative technologies. – Malaysia World News.
