KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry (MOE) has decided to withdraw its participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023 (Frankfurter Buchmesse) in Frankfurt, Germany scheduled from 18th Oct. to 22nd Oct.

Its Minister, Fadhlina Sidek said MOE’s decision to pull out was made after considering the organizer’s alleged pro-Israel stance and open support for Israel.

“The Ministry will not compromise on Israel’s violence in Palestine that has violated international law and human rights,” she said in a statement.

The statement added the decision taken by MOE is aligned with the government’s stance, demonstrating solidarity with and providing full support to Palestine.

The conflict between Palestine-Israel had started on 7th Oct. and had killed and injured thousands of lives.

Frankfurt Book Fair 2023 is renowned as one of the prominent trade fairs for the books and literature industries.

“The decision was made following the government’s stance in the Palestine-Israel conflict and now we have decided to withdraw from the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023,” DBP said in a statement on Facebook Monday. – Malaysia World News
