Kuala Lumpur— A Selangor-born entrepreneur running an online food business has been crowned Miss Plus World Malaysia 2021/2022 on Saturday (Jan 15, 2022) at Miss Plus World Malaysia`s Grand Finale Gala 2021 held at Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur Grand Ballroom.
The newly crowned plus size Queen, Elena Tong will represent Malaysia at the international stage of the Miss Plus World pageant in Texas, in the United States of America this year on 12th March 2022.
She said she wants to advocate self-redemption and mental empowerment, as well as promoting Malaysia’s diverse cultures when she represents the country as a finalist of Miss Plus World 2022.
Self-redemption is to succeed or do something good after one has failed or done something bad. One can redeem oneself for yesterday’s loss by winning today’s game, she explained.
“I’ve once thought I can’t rise. Yet, I’ve changed my life 360 degrees as I take ownership of my life and mistakes.
“I hope to empower others to realise they too can change their lives. They too deserve to be happy, to be loved and accepted, and that they don’t need to keep thinking they aren’t good enough,” Elena told Malaysia World News reporter.

Saturday’s event also saw Ana Liza Del Castillo being crowned Ms Plus Intercontinental 2021/22, while Amanda Jack was awarded the title of Miss Elegant Plus World Malaysia.
This year’s Miss Plus World Malaysia winners were selected online (2 months prior to the Grand Finale Gala) through online meetings and interviews due to Covid-19 situation, MCO, lockdown and SOP.
The objectives of Miss Plus World Malaysia are to increase interest in healthy lifestyle, leadership, raise funds for underprivileged children, refugees, homeless, old folks and public education on the importance of exercise, healthy lifestyle, women empowerment, and generate a spirit of community involvement and volunteerism.
“Our vision of the Miss Plus World Pageant is to showcase the diversity, creativity, leadership, style, grace, and beauty of women from across the world,” said Miss Plus World Malaysia National Director Ziinine.A.Britshi.
