PUTRAJAYA: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah first official visit to Indonesia from 17th -20th October since his reappointment on 30th August 2021 is scheduled to call on President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, the call will be preceded by a meeting with Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister, Retno L.P Marsudi and followed by a meeting with Datuk Paduka Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary General of ASEAN and a session with the Committee of Permanent Representatives of ASEAN.
“The Foreign Affairs Minister is also scheduled to have interactive forums with the Universitas Paramadina and the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI), meeting with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and a session with Malaysian students and diaspora in Jakarta,” the statement said here yesterday (17th Oct.2021).
The statement added, the Minister’s visit reflects the close and comprehensive ties between the two immediate neighbours. It will afford the opportunity for the two sides to explore joint initiatives in post-pandemic recovery efforts, as well as in addressing regional and international challenges.
“The visit will be held in full compliance with the COVID-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) put in place by the authorities of both countries,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, on his visit to Jakarta yesterday, Saifuddin spent his time meeting the Malaysians in Indonesia including government representatives, business groups and students.
