Meta, Tik Tok agreed to ensure online safety measures for children below 13

KUALA LUMPUR: Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil confirms that the two social media platform providers namely Meta and Tik Tok have pledged their commitment to ensure online safety measures for children below the age of 13.

Fahmi said, in the discussion held with them today (Monday) they had also agreed to monitor contents containing criminal elements such as online gambling, scam, fake news and 3R (Race, Religion and Royalty).

“Besides that the two social media platforms had also been informed about the government’s plans to improve the laws and the media social platform operation’s guidelines in Malaysia,” Fahmi said in his Facebook post, Monday.

Fahmi said this is in line with the MADANI government’s commitment to guarantee the rights of the people to speak up in Malaysia while ensuring the use of internet productively, harmoniously and safe for all.

Meanwhile earlier Fahmi had said, the Ministry of Communications, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and other agencies would be meeting Meta today to discuss on online safety. –Malaysia World News
