KUALA LUMPUR, Monday, 28 August 2017 –A lively Merdeka Celebration at Central Market Kuala Lumpur last Saturday has demonstrated the spirit of Malaysian unity and patriotism.

 The highlights of the event were mini sports games, car boot sales, traditional costumes counter and special performances.

Co-organising the event with Viibrant – a social movement promoting human connections – Merdeka Celebration has brought this year a strong theme to encourage visitors to interact and unite regardless beliefs, races and nationalities towards achieving one goal many sport activities such as mini football, ping pong, badminton, basketball, golf and bowling.

The games received much positive support from the visitors.

“We would like to take this opportunity to celebrate SEA Games and National Day together, bringing something which can promote interactions while visitors enjoy a fun evening with cultural dance, patriotic dance and singing performance, “said Madam Cheong Wai Mun, the Complex Manager of Central Market Kuala Lumpur at the event.

“To brighten up the event even more, we present a series of special busking performance by Malaysian’s famous local band Caliph Buskers alongside other talented musicians; Sara Sara Akustika and Teori Kaki Lima,” she added.

Locals and tourist alike were also having fun at the 129-year-old art and craft centre wearing multiracial traditional costumes for free and take photos at the venue, providing a unique Malaysian experience that is hard to find in the city.

Merdeka Celebration began showcasing its fun and games beginning 4.00 pm starting with artsy car boot sales featuring handmade decoupage flowers, oil paintings, drawings, clay arts, terrariums, embroidery T-shirts, vintage clothing and many more besides some delicious homemade bakes by local entrepreneurs.
