KUALA LUMPUR JUNE 26: Following a student encountering with Internet accessibility problem at her house in Kg. Muhibbah, Penawar, Kota Tinggi, Johor that went viral on 24th June 2021, the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had taken several steps to help the affected student.
MCMC in its statement said, after a day the case was reported, MCMC of Johor State together with the service provider representative went to the location and met the student’s mother, Farah Norain Hashim to investigate and get the real picture of the problem.
“From the coverage test carried out from inside and outside the student’s house, it was found that the Internet coverage was weak due to the palm oil trees surrounding the house,” the statement said.
The statement added, subsequently MCMC had directed the service provider to change the coverage radiance from the nearby tower located 1.1 kilometre from the complainant’s house and actions had been taken.
“Besides that, the speed test, resetting the laptop computer and hand phone and troubleshooting process from inside and outside the student’s house had been carried out,” the statement added.
According to MCMC after necessary actions have been taken, the Internet accessibility to the student’s house has been successfully recovered and Farah with her child could receive telephone calls and 4G coverage via the laptop computer. –Malaysia World News.
