
YPC International College students, Jason Loo Jun Wei and Augustine Rudy Grocer emerged as taekwondo medal winners at the Sea Games 2019 held in the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Philippines on 7th December 2019.
Malaysia`s Taekwondo champion Jason Loo Jun Wei, 19, business and technology student at YPC, won the gold medal in poomsae mixed pairs performance.
He performed poomsae with his partner Nurul Hidayah Abdul Karim, a 22 years old girl from Sarawak.
The duo earned the gold with 8.283 points after having done a stunning, excellent performance.

On 15 August 2019, the Malaysian taekwondo national team competed in the Asian championship in Vietnam where Jason won a gold medal that qualified him for the Sea Games in Manila, Philippines.
“I thought it was only a dream. I have never thought it would come true. I am so happy to win gold with my partner Nurul.
“I am also delighted to win the bronze medal as well with my team, Rudy and Jinkun in the team category.
“Today I am very proud to represent my country Malaysia and bring home these precious medals,” Jason told Malaysia World News in an exclusive interview at YPC International College Kuala Lumpur.
Jason and Rudy teamed up with Yong Jin Kun and brought home the bronze medal in the men’s team poomsae event after they were placed third with 7.983 points.

“Even though it was the first time we participated in the Sea Games, we have done our best and we hope to bring more medals next year,” Jason and Rudy said.
The SEA Games, known as Southeast Asian Games, is a two-yearly multi-sport event involving participants from 11 countries of Southeast Asia including Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Timor-Leste.
When asked what he would advise his friends from YPC Taekwondo Club to enter international championship Jason said: “Taekwondo members must train hard with passion and determination to succeed, and most importantly never give up.”
Meanwhile, YPC International College Principal, Datuk Dr. Noel Robert said he is so proud of Jason and Rudy for achieving success in the 2019 Sea Games in Manila.
“They have certainly set a benchmark for other YPC Taekwondo club members to follow,” he said, adding that “one of the hallmarks of YPC students is they excel not only in academic study but also in community engagement projects, teamwork, and sports.”
YPC International College, with the collaboration of Liverpool John Moores University UK (LJMU), is well-known for producing graduates with good academic achievements, leadership skills, sportsmanship and community engagement skills that make them ready for any challenges.
“Our graduates certainly have a competitive edge when they enter the working world,” Dr. Noel said.
On May 3, 2019, YPC launched a new fitness club within the college for students, staff and the local community.
YPC believes that exercising would make their students and staff healthier and thus more productive.
The sports facilities, Taekwondo and fitness courses at the college are to ensure students are being taught in a modern environment and are ready academically and physically for today’s competitive and demanding work environment.

YPC Taekwondo Club is one of the most active clubs in the college. Its members are very active; they have classes twice a week under Grand Master, Moi Chee Keong from Taekwando Malaysia.
In October 2019, four YPC students earned gold medals after competing with many students from other colleges at SEGI International Taekwondo Championship that was held in Segi College.
The four YPC gold winners were: Sarah and Mary Grace who pursue a degree in Accounting; Shah a Business Management student; and Swee who is also a student from YPC.
In 2018, YPC students also brought home gold medals after winning in Smart Ma Taekwondo Championship.
The president of YPC Taekwondo club, Siti Sarah Binti Azahar said: “The Sea Games gold medalist Jason and bronze medalist Rudy have really inspired our members to work harder for success.
“They are our seniors. They have motivated us and brought a good name to YPC International College.”
