Malaysia`s King congratulates Cheryl Chow for ‘Top in The World’ award for IGCSE Chemistry

KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has sent a message of congratulations to Cheryl Chow Shu Wei for winning ‘Best In the World Cambridge Outstanding Learners Award’ for IGCSE Chemistry.
 
His Majesty said, the outstanding achievement of the student has made the country famous at the international level.
 
Al-Sultan Abdullah also hopes that  Cheryl`s achievement would be an inspiration to all Malaysians, especially students and youths to continue to work hard and strive to achieve outstanding success in their respective fields.
 
“Indeed, the success of Cheryl Chow Shu Wei once again proves that Malaysia is capable of producing students and individuals of quality, competent and international standard.

“It also proves that with commitment and hard work, Malaysians can compete and succeed on the international stage,” said a statement issued by Istana Negara via Facebook on Monday.

 The 17-year-old student from Beaconhouse Sri Inai International School, Petaling Jay has made the country proud after being named ‘Top in the World’ for Chemistry.

Cheryl beat out nearly 1 million other students from around the world when she gained the highest standard mark in the world for International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations for Chemistry.

“I am truly ecstatic to receive this prestigious global recognition. To know that I’ve been named the best in Chemistry in the whole world, it is something I could never have dreamt of,” said Cheryl.

“This past year has been extremely difficult with the pandemic and learning from home. So, I’m even more proud of my accomplishment. Of course, none of this could have been possible without the help of my parents, teachers and peers who motivated and encouraged me to never give up and always try my best,” she added.
