PUTRAJAYA JUNE 19: Malaysians who wish to go overseas to further their studies no longer need to submit their application to the Immigration Department of Malaysia but to present the academic registration document at the Immigration counter in the airport.
Security and Senior Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, those who need to go overseas for emergency cases or for business purposes need to present the documents as a proof to the Immigration Officer at the airport.
“For international students who are studying in the public and private universities and international schools in Malaysia, the government will have to refer to the list of students with the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Education for verification purposes.
“The students concerned will have to be screened test for COVID-19 in their countries or upon arrival in Malaysia. They will have to undergo compulsory home quarantine for 14 days and download MySejahtera apps.
“However foreign visitors on medical tourism will have to go through the Ministry of Health (MOH) and register with the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) and have to be screened test for COVID-19 in their countries or on arrival in Malaysia,” Ismail said in a press conference held here today.
He said, they need not have to be quarantined but will be taken straight to the hospital. They will be allowed to bring along a guardian who have to download MySejahtera apps.
On another development, Ismail said, the expatriates in EPI category, Professional Visit Pass and Resident Pass Talent who are in the highest management levels including management director of a company, are allowed to enter the country without applying permission from the Immigration Department of Malaysia
“They will have to do swab test for COVID-19 in their countries before leaving for Malaysia or do it on arrival at the entry points.
“The MOH is now studying the countries listed in the green zones, where people who depart from these countries need not have to undergo the 14 days compulsory quarantine but to download MySejahtera apps for monitoring processes,” Ismail reiterated
He added, for those coming from countries not in the green zone will have to undergo home quarantine for 14 days.
The Senior Minister said, for expatriate in the EP2 and EP3 category, the Immigration Department is making considerations for the re- entry processes.
For the foreign technical experts needed to repair machines, ships and others, Ismail said, they will have to apply for Professional Visit Pass through Expatriate Services Division (ESD) Online.
Ismail added, these people will have to be screened test for COVID-19 in their countries or at the entry points in Malaysia and download MySejahtera apps for monitoring purposes. However those from the green zone need not have to undergo home quarantine for 14 days. –Malaysia World
