Malaysians advised to avoid travelling to Bangladesh ahead of its general election

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, via the High Commission of Malaysia in Dhaka is closely monitoring the developments in Bangladesh pertaining to its 12th General Election on 7th January 2024.

The Ministry in a statement said, Malaysians are advised to avoid unnecessary travel to Bangladesh on this day.

“Malaysians residing in Bangladesh must remain vigilant and are advised to avoid political gatherings,” the statement said.

Recently a train was set on fire ahead of the general election in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on Friday, January 5, 2024, leaving five people dead and several injured. The train was arriving in the capital Dhaka from the western city of Jessore.
