PUTRAJAYA:  Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today said employers and workers affected by Covid-19 will also benefit from the `RM250 billion Caring Economic Stimulus Package (PRIHATIN) ` that the government unveiled today (March 27) in attempt to overcome the pandemic effects.

The Prime Minister reiterated that he understood how much COVID-19 disaster has affected the social, economic and well-being of the Malaysians since its outbreak in January 2020. As such he said “no one will be left behind… from the poor, farmer, fisherman, students, to the workers and employers.” The RM250 billion Caring Economic Stimulus Package (PRIHATIN) will cover all Malaysians across the board.

“The Aid will be “one -off” cash payment to the qualified recipients,” he said in a special deliberation on PRIHATIN here today.

The government also introduces the Salary Subsidy Programme (SSP) to help employers retain their workers.

Through this programme, the government provides payment of RM600 per month for three months for workers with salary below RM4, 000,  and this is for employers losing more than 50% income since January 1, 2020.

“This programme is to ensure no employers will lay-off their workers or force them to take unpaid leave for three months after this programme is being introduced. Employers are not permitted to cut the workers’ salary” said Muhyiddin.

This initiative, he added, will benefit 3.3 million workers with the allocation of RM5.9 million. – Malaysia World News
