Malaysian arrested in Australia over smuggling 450 kilogrammes of heroin worth RM431.8 million into the country

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — The Australian authorities have detained a Malaysian man suspected of smuggling heroin into the country.

Reports said the Malaysian national was attempting to smuggle 450 kilogrammes of heroin worth RM431.8 million into the country.

The Australian police were reported saying they have seized the biggest ever amount of drug in a series of raids.

The drug was found in a container filled with tiles from Malaysia to Melbourne.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have confirmed the man was arrested and they said they are working with the authorities in Australia to know more information on the detention.

Bukit Aman Narcotics CID director, Datuk Razarudin Husain said further investigations were being conducted through a co-operation between PDRM Narcotics CID and the Australian Federal Police (AFP).
