NEW YORK: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said Malaysia wants the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take concrete action to uphold the rule of law and implement all UN resolutions related to the Palestinian issue.

Mohamad Hasan said international law, the UN Charter and decisions by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) must be upheld to ensure justice is achieved.

“Israel’s immunity from legal action cannot be allowed to continue,” he said in his speech at the Ministerial Meeting in Support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), held on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly.

Mohamad said Malaysia also strongly condemned attacks on UNRWA premises and operations, including the forced intrusion into and seizure of the Kalandia Training Centre by Israel.

“UN premises must not be violated, and the privileges and immunities accorded to the organisation must be fully respected at all times,” he said as reported by NST.

However he said, Malaysia remained committed “o supporting UNRWA’s humanitarian efforts, which continue to play an important role in providing aid, protection and basic services to millions of Palestinian refugees.

He said Malaysia had contributed US$6.7 million to UNRWA over the past five years.
“Malaysia is also committed to providing an additional US$1 million from 2026 to 2030, equivalent to US$200,000 a year,” he said.

Mohamad said, Malaysia is calling on member states with the capacity to contribute to come forward, as sustained funding remained crucial to enabling UNRWA to carry out its mandate effectively.

This, he said, is in addition to providing political support for UNRWA until a just and lasting solution is found for the plight of Palestinian refugees
