Malaysia signs joint venture agreement with Baladna, one of the largest cattle farms in Qatar

Qatar: Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has today visited Baladna Dairy Facility, which is one of the largest cattle farms in Qatar.
Azmin is on a three-day official visit to Qatar led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob from March 27 to 29.
The Malaysian Minister said he was so impressed by the cattle farm which spreads over an area of over 2 million sqm, and has a capacity to house up to 24,000 cows in a comfortable and well-conditioned environment.
“Indeed, I am proud to see the Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with FELCRA Berhad that was signed back in 2019 when I was the Minister of Economic Affairs, finally coming to fruition with the development of a large-scale dairy project in Chuping Valley, Perlis.
“Building on this strategic collaboration, this project provides immense opportunities for Malaysia and Qatar to enhance our value proposition in the food industry, and more importantly to ensure food security in our region,” Azmin said in a post on his Facebook today.
He added, under the exciting Joint Venture of Baladna, FGV and FELCRA Berhad, this collaboration would bring its investment, expertise, and technology to increase Malaysia’s current fresh milk production in line with our National Food Security Agenda, which aims to reduce Malaysia’s reliance on dairy imports through self-sufficiency. At the same time, the RM2 billion investment will create over 2,000 job opportunities and boost the competitiveness of the local dairy industry. – Malaysia World News
