Malaysia is seriously concerned over the escalation of conflict in Ukraine, and strongly urges all concerned parties to immediately take steps to de-escalate and prevent loss of lives and devastation.
Malaysia Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Bin Yaakob, in a statement today said, “at this critical juncture, every effort should be redoubled to seek a peaceful and amicable solution to the conflict through dialogue and negotiation based on international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
He added, Malaysia will continue to support such efforts in the interest of maintaining regional and international peace and security, as well as promoting greater prosperity.
“The United Nations Security Council must carry out its primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security,” Ismail Sabri said.
The statement added that The Embassy of Malaysia in Kyiv is currently undertaking evacuation of remaining 8 Malaysian nationals and 2 of their foreign dependents from Kyiv. Thirteen of our nationals had already left Ukraine in the past weeks.
Russian troops have invaded Ukraine’s capital from several directions after Russia’s leader ordered the invasion. Many people have been declared killed and wounded, Airports and military headquarters were hit, near cities across Ukraine.
