Malaysia records 1,335 new COVID-19 cases, 11,039 under treatment, 2 deaths today

PUTRAJAYA 6 DEC:-Since the COVID-19 pandemic started in early 2020, 72,694 people have been infected with the corona virus including 1,335 new cases recorded today with 1,069 patients discharged bringing the cumulative total to 61,273.

Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham said, 11,039 were active cases and had been treated in the hospitals nationwide while 126 were admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) with 57 needed respiratory aids.

“Two deaths were recorded bringing the death toll to 382 or 0.5% from the cumulative total,” said Dr. Noor Hisham in a statement here today.
However he said, the states in the Klang Valley had recorded 515 cases (38.6%) and from that Selangor contributed 337 cases (65.4%) being the highest and followed by Negeri Sembilan with 258 cases (19.3%) and Sabah 250 cases (18.7%).

Meanwhile 243 cases (18.2%) had been related to the clusters in the Temporary Detention Centres (TDC) and prisons involving Jalan Harapan Prison cluster with 141 cases, Tembok (92), TDC Sibuga (7), Bakti (2) and Rumah Merah (1).

In another development 201 clusters and additional three clusters today had ended and it included the Palma, Merpati and Makekar.
“Even though many clusters had ended but three new clusters were formed today besides 49 clusters still monitored by the Ministry of Health.

“The clusters are Ceram in the district of Seremban in Negeri Sembilan with 450 individuals have been screened out of which 171 had been detected with positive COVID-19,” said Dr. Noor Hisham.

He added the other cluster was Pulau Berhala in the district of Sandakan, Sabah with 24 positive COVID-19 cases detected after 208 individuals had been screened until 6th Dec. 2020.

The Jalan Tampoi cluster in Johor Bahru district had affected 17 individuals detected with COVID-19 after 212 were screened until 6th Dec.2020.

The states that have recorded new COVID-19 cases today are Selangor with 337 cases, Negeri Sembilan (258), Sabah (250), Kuala Lumpur (178), Johor (125), Perak (108), Penang (31), Labuan (21), Kedah (17), Pahang (4), Melaka (3), Kelantan (2) and Terengganu (1). –Malaysia World News
