PUTRAJAYA JAN.14: Malaysia has 3,337 new COVID-19 cases today being the highest daily record since the pandemic started early 2020, adding to the cumulative total to 147,855 with 33,989 active cases.
Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, 1,710 patients were discharged and had contributed to the cumulative total of 113,288 or 76.6% from the grand total of cases.
“From the new cases, seven were imported while the local transmissions had recorded 3,330 involving 2,142 locals with 1,188 cases affecting the foreigners.
“Until today 195 cases had been admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) while 86 cases needed respiratory aids. However, 15 were dead bringing the death toll to 578 cases or 0.39% from the total number of cases,” said Dr. Noor Hisham in a statement here today.
Selangor still records the highest number with 1,036 cases (31.0%) and from that 795 cases (76.7%) are from clusters and close contact screenings of COVID-19 on the grounds. Johor has 460 cases (13.8%) while Sabah contributes 389 cases (11.7%).
Meanwhile 153 cases (4.6%) are recorded from the related clusters in the lockups, immigration detention depots, prisons involving Tembok Mempaga cluster (63), Tropika (51), Jalan Harapan Prison (34), Kepayan Prison (2), Tembok Choh (1) Tembok Gajah (1) and Pagar Siput cluster (1).
There are seven new clusters recorded today and this includes the Jalan Selayang involving the district of Gombak in Selangor with 84 cases while Tropika cluster in Johor Bahru, Johor had 55 positive COVID-19 cases and another one the Pasir Barat cluster in the districts of Johor Bahru and Kota Tinggi had 92 individuals detected with the corona virus until 14th Jan.2021.
The Dutamas Construction Site cluster is affecting the district of Kepong in Kuala Lumpur where 18 cases had been detected with positive COVID-19 until 14th Jn.2021. The Jalan Pahang cluster in the district of Kepong, Titiwangsa, Lembah Pantai and Cheras in Kuala Lumpur had six individuals being infected with the corona virus until 14th Jan.2021.
However the Jalan Rantau-Siliau cluster in the district of Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan had 96 new COVID-19 cases detected until 14th Jan.2021 while the Intan Mas cluster in the district of Hilir Perak in Perak had 15 individuals were infected with the corona virus until 14th Jan.2021.
The states with new COVID-19 cases today are Selangor with 1,036 cases, Sabah (389), Kuala Lumpur (257), Johor (460), Negeri Semnilan (169), Pulau Pinang (234), Perak (92), Kedah (86), Pahang (113), Sarawak (180), Labuan (34), Melaka (85), Kelantan (85), Terengganu (89), Putrajaya (24) and Perlis (4). –Malaysia World News
