Malaysia-Kyrgyz Republic to explore air routes to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, tourism – PM Anwar

BISHKEK: Malaysia and Kyrgyz Republic can enhance transport connectivity and develop mutual interests in sectors like halal ecosystem, trade, investment, education, and tourism, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted today.

“The significance of air routes in strengthening cooperation in these fields should be emphasized.

“Thank you for giving us the offer of the Fifth Freedom Rights. We will speak to our airlines, should there be able to arrange (flight schedules) at least once or twice a week for a start.

“It is tough sometimes to persuade the airlines to start but from experience, once you start, people will start seeing the beauty (of it),” said the Prime Minister as reported by Bernama.

Anwar who is on a two-day official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic said that during a joint press conference with the country’s President Sadyr Zhaparov after they had a four-eyed meeting at the Ala Archa State Residence, Wednesday (May 15).

Earlier in his Fcebook post, the Prime Minister said, after he had passed the parade of honour, he had a courtesy call with President Sadry Zhaparov.

“In the meeting we have discussed bilateral issues covering regional and international that are of mutual interests including the Palestine-Israel conflict and Afghanistan’s issue.

“The meeting has also been utilised to explore potential fields to cooperate among others in economy, halal industry, education, tourism, culture, cooperation between parliaments, digital economy, energy, connectivity and mining,” he said in his Facebook post.

Anwar added, Kyrgyz Republic has also requested Malaysia to send advisors to assist them in financial management infrastructure’s experiences besides economic reformation.

The meeting was concluded with both the leaders signing the Joint Statement among others related to the cooperation in investment, economy and trade before attending an informal reception.- Malaysia World News
