Malaysia Former Prime Minister arrested,faces charges depositing RM2.6 billion into his personal account

Putrajaya: Former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was today arrested by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) in connection with the deposit of RM2.6 billion of 1MDB funds into his personal account.

MACC in a statement said, Najib was arrested at 4.12pm at its headquarters in Putrajaya on September 19.

The statement also said that Najib will be brought to the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court at 3pm on Thursday (tomorrow) to face several charges under Section 23 (1) of the MACC Act.

Meanwhile MACC also said that it will cooperate with the police to record Najib’s statement before he is taken to the court tomorrow.

The statement added, this is to help their investigations under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001. –Malaysia World News
