PETALING JAYA:  The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) that Malaysia government imposed at the infected areas (red zones) in the country follows same approach that China took to contain Covid-19 virus infections so that it would not spread to green zones.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said it is crucial to prevent the pandemic in red zones from spreading to green zones.

“For example, the China government shut down three provinces – Zhejiang, Hubei and Jiangsu to prevent the spread of the virus from reaching and contaminating green zones such as Beijing.

“We may go for a similar approach, in which hotspot areas will have EMCO, to protect the elderly and those diagnosed with non-communicable diseases in the green zones.

“Therefore, all of us will play a role by staying at home and not going out. By doing so, we can break the chain of infection and bring down the cases together,” he said in a press conference today.

Noor Hisham also mentioned that Malaysia government is battling to have less cases across the country by April, adding that the police are still looking for 5,084 people from tabligh gathering who have yet to come forward for screening and testing.

“We are working together with the police to track them down and hopefully they will come forward to do the screening and testing,“ he said.- Malaysia World News (MWN)
