PUTRAJAYA SEPT.28: The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia will consistently monitor the digitalisation initiatives under the Digital Infrastructure Cluster and Data to ensure its implementations are following the phases until year 2025 or earlier than the targeted date.
Its Minister, Tan Sri Annuar Musa said, the implementations will be with the cooperation from various parties as the digitalisation initiatives will cross other ministries and agencies.
“I have met with few stakeholders in the telecommunication industry including the private sector to ensure the digitalisation initiatives under RMK-12 will apply the “Whole-of-Nation Approach.”
“Through the National Digital Network Plan or JENDELA, about 94 per cent of the populated areas have received the 4G coverage until August 2021, while the 5G technology network will be launched at the end of the year.
“In line with this achievement, JENDELA is targeting 100 per cent 4G coverage in populated areas, 5G coverage that is wider and with the broadband fixed line reaching nine million premises before year 2025,” Annuar said in a statement here today in his response to the RMK-12 that has been tabled by the Prime Minister at Dewan Rakyat yesterday.
Annuar added, all the digitalisation incentives are helping to achieve the targeted 2.5 per cent contribution of digital economy to the Gross Domestic Productivity (GDP) in 2025.
The Minister added, the digital economic opportunities for the people will be widened to the grass root levels and the digital economic growth will be built at all levels including the Community Internet Centre that will be transformed to be the Malaysian Family Digital Centre nationwide.
Annuar said, the Ministry will focus on strengthening the ecosystem of the creative industry as one of the strategic industries with high impact and big potentialities to contribute to the national economic growth.
“The creative industry has targeted to contribute RM31.9 billion to the GDP before year 2025.
“ I am confident that the objectives of RMK-12 will be realized via joint efforts from all parties and “Insya Allah” Malaysian Family will continue to be resilient in facing the challenges and can afford to achieve successes for the future of the nation,” Annuar said.- Malaysia World News
