TEHRAN, IRAN: Several photos of Malaysian Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu performing his prayer in a Shia mosque in Iran have recently gone viral on the social media and so much rumors went rife.
However, the Press Secretary (SUA) to Mohamad Sabu , Amin Shah Iskandar has today explained about those viral photos.
Amin Shah said, it is a normal procedure that a “turbah” or “karbala stone” is placed in front of the sejadah (praying mat) of a person regardless of his/her status whether as a member of the public or as an important guest to Iran.
“It is a traditional practice of the mosque in Iran to place turbah on all the sejadah without exception especially the VIP. It depends on where we want to “sujud” (place forehead on the ground),” said Amin Shah as quoted by Malaysia Gazette.
The Malaysian Defence Minister (pic middle) is in Tehran on a six-day-official visit until today (May1) commencing the bilateral meeting with his counterpart Brigadier General Amir Hatami, the Minister of Defence and Logistic for Iranian Armed Forces.
The meeting among others was aimed at detailing the implementation of potential cooperation relating to security and defence between the two countries.
The meeting was also attended by Malaysian delegates including the Ambassador to Iran, Dato’ Rustam Yahaya and several senior officers of the Ministry of Defence and Malaysian Armed Forces.
The President of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah)Mohamad Sabu was seen praying in a mosque in Tehran with Imam Ayatollah Emami Kashani as portrayed by a website in Persian language recently.
It is also mentioned that, through its findings, the karbala stone is used by Syiah followers to “sujud” during praying.
It is said that karbala stone is sacred for the Syiah followers. Karbala was the place where the grandson of Prophet Muhammad SAW. Hussain was killed and he was the imam to the Syiah group. – Malaysia World News
