PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia strongly condemns the terrorist attack on a water lifting facility in Sinai, Arab Republic of Egypt on 7th May 2022 which resulted in at least 11 fatalities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that those responsible for this heinous act will be brought to justice.

“Malaysia extends our deepest condolences and sympathies to the government and people of Egypt, in particular to the bereaved families of the fallen soldiers,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, Monday.

The statement added, Malaysia strongly rejects all forms of terrorism that undermine regional peace and security.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said in a statement “he sadly mourns the victims of the attack, expressing his heart-felt sympathies and condolences to their families and the Armed Forces.”

Mr. Moustafa Madbouli added the determination of the Egyptian State to press ahead with the march of construction and development and continue the nation’s “battle of dignity” which is fought by its loyal people against “evil enemies and the forces of terrorism and extremism.”

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed that treacherous terrorist attacks will not undermine the determination of people and the army to uproot terrorism.

The president’s remarks came shortly after the army spokesman said on Saturday that the military foiled an attack by a group of takfiri elements on a water lift station east of the Suez Canal, noting that the confrontation left 11 military personnel killed (numbers raised to be 17 after more injured soldiers passed away due to their critical wounds).
